Suppliers must comply with these standards and ensure that their own suppliers and subcontractors do the same. Cider expects that suppliers fully comply to national laws and international standards for the protection of employees and their greater communities.
Human Rights
- Suppliers shall cooperate with Cider or its representatives to perform ESG assessments.
- Employment of those under the age of 16 is strictly prohibited; suppliers should have no history of employing child labor.
- Bonded or prison labor is strictly prohibited.
- Suppliers shall not detain employees' personal certificates and shall not coerce employees to work by delaying or withholding wages.
- New employees (including foreign workers) shall not be required to pay deposits, security deposits, or other fees during the onboarding process.
- During working hours, employees shall not be restricted from drinking water or using the toilet freely.
- During break time, employees shall not be restricted from freely leaving the workplace or public areas (including employee dormitories, factory areas, etc.), and employees shall not be punished for refusing to work overtime.
- Suppliers shall not engage in any form of physical, sexual, verbal, or mental abuse and/or harassment of employees.
- There is no discrimination in any form on the basis of gender, region, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy status, marital status, nationality, etc. This includes recruitment, wages, access to promotion, and/or other disciplinary actions.
- The right to form trade unions or other labor organizations is protected without interference.
- The monthly wages of all employees shall not be lower than the local minimum wage.
Safety
- Workers are provided with safe conditions at all work sites.
- All buildings comply with safety regulations related to fire and structural safety. There are no signs of danger on any part of a building including walls, floors, or beams.
- Fire permits are required for all factory buildings.
- Production areas and warehouses should be equipped with two or more safety exits.
- Fire exits must remain unlocked at all times.
- Smoking is prohibited in production areas and warehouses – kitchens are not allowed in these areas.
- When operating in a limited space, adequate safety measures should be taken to prevent injury or accidents.
- Straight exhaust pipes and open-flued gas heaters are prohibited in employee dormitories.
- It should be ensured that all locked doors can be opened from the inside.
- All employee dormitories should have two or more safety exits.
Environment
- All required environmental permits and licenses must be kept up to date.
- Resources utilized in the production process are obtained from responsible sources, and both the supplier and the origin of the inputs are strictly monitored.
- Suppliers must identify any significant environmental impacts associated with ongoing operations. Suppliers must offer information and opportunities to upskill workers, subcontractors, and suppliers on wider environmental management activities and practices (e.g. improving the efficiency of machinery or processes, energy or water-saving practices, etc.)
- Suppliers shall reuse or recycle all waste sources whenever possible.
- Emissions of hazardous waste, wastewater, or waste gas should strictly follow our environmental guidelines.
- All waste streams must be segregated into hazardous and non-hazardous waste and stored separately. Suppliers are responsible for ensuring training and appropriate health and safety equipment are provided to all employees.
Integrity
- To ensure a safe and protected environment for individuals to voice their concerns, anyone who reports whistleblowing concerns in good faith, even if they are mistaken, will not face any adverse consequences. Protection against victimization, harassment, or disciplinary action is essential.
- All forms of bribery and corruption, direct or indirect, with any person or organization, are prohibited. We are dedicated to conducting all our business dealings and relationships professionally, fairly, and with integrity, regardless of the location of our operation.
